Abstract
A 33-year-old woman had been treated by diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS) for eosinophilic pustular folliculitis. She complained that bullous eruptions appeared on the lips and perioral region two years after commencement of DDS administration, and had become temporarily worse after she took DDS.
(1) 10% DDS patch test: negative
(2) Readministration test of DDS: positive. Fixed drug eruption was considered at this point.
(3) When DDS was given for three consecutive days, the eruption subsided.
(4) The eruption recurred, when DDS was given at intervals of 5 days
(5) When DDS was given after administration of sinomin (sulfamethoxazole), a flare-up of the eruption was not seen.
The tolerance was considered to be due to consumption of some unknown factor(s) during continued administration of DDS.
