Gianotti-Crosti syndrome is considered to be a nonspecific cutaneous host response to a variety of infectious agents. We herein report two cases of Gianotti-Crosti syndrome preceded by an oral polio vaccine. Two 1-year-old Japanese girls were referred to our clinic with papules on their cheeks and limbs. The rash had begun 2 or 3 days after they had been vaccinated with a live-attenuated oral polio vaccine. A histopathologic examination of cutaneous punch biopsy specimens of case 2 showed perivascular lymphocytic infiltration around the capillary vessels in the upper dermis, and also infiltration in both the interface as well as the epidermis. The epidermis revealed mild acanthosis and spongiosis, however, serologic tests for hepatitis B virus were within the normal limits.
