A 89-year-old woman, having a history of diabetes mellitus, developed non-clostridial gas gangrene on the buttocks following decubitus. CT scan and X-ray examination showed the gas formation in the subcutaneous tissue of the buttocks. Bacteroides distanosis and Bacteroides uniformis were isolated from pus. Because she was a person of advanced age and had poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, we could not carry out an extensive debridement and she died of bad constitutional symptom.
