¹³³Xe Clearance in Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Abstract

¹³³Xe clearance in about 100 cases with knee joint diseases was determined and thebiological half life (T1/2) was calculated. The results were as follows.
1. The greater the degree of pain, the shorter was T1/2 in all knee joint diseases.
2. No relationship could be demonstrated between T1/2 and Xray evidence of osteoarthritis.
3. Shortning of T1/2 was noted in many cases with articular effusion of large volume, but no relationship was noted between T1/2 value and those with mild or no articular effusions.
