Abstract
166 total hip arthroplasties were performed between 1991 and 1997 in our hospital, and 15 deslocations occured. The rate of deslocation was relatve high in patients with reumatoid arthritis compared with osteoarthritis. 6 hips were deslocated once, while the remaining 9 more than once. Repeated dislocation was often observed in patients with low activity prior to operation. All the dislocations were reducted manually. Revision was however required in 3 to prevent repeated dislocation. The first dislocation occured in the hospital in 13 patients. 12 patients had no repeated deslocation without revision. Post-operative education is considered important for the prevention of the dislocation of prosthesis.
