A fairly close relationship was observed between Bickenbach standing test on onehand and the extent of blood pressure decrease in the retinal capillaries at the macula lutea and hypotension during laparotomy on the other.
In other words, there is a definite correlation between the occurrence of shock symptoms during laparotomy and the regulating capacities of the peripheral circulatory system. Therefore, I believe that a test of this nature should be tried before nonemergency operations of the digestive tract.
