Abstract

2-5oligoadenylate synthetase activity was mearsued in the serum of the patients with Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). NK cell activity was also measured in the patients with CD. Furthermore, we tried to administrate of IFN-α to a patient with CD. The results of this study were as described below.
1) 2-5AS activity in the active stage of CD increased compared with normal control and returned to normal in the remission.
2) In the UC, 2-5AS activity also increased, but it's degree is lesser than active CD and it fell under normal value in the remission.
3) NK activity was low in the active stage of CD and returned to normal in the remission.
4) This study sugests the effectiveness of IFN-α administration to the patient with CD.
