Abstract
In this paper, we report on the teaching practice of “Japanese III” in the former curriculum, in light of the process leading up to the new curriculum that has been in operation at the school since the 2024 school year. Under the old curriculum, “Japanese III” was a half-year course offered in the first semester of the third year, and a variety of innovations were required to enrich the educational content and achieve the learning objectives within the limited class time.
In this paper, we specifically describe how we devised and practiced effective teaching methods centering on literary works under such constraints. It also aims to discuss improvements after the introduction of the new curriculum, and to discuss the future prospects for Japanese language education at technical colleges.
