    Vocabulary is considered to be one of the most important factors for English as a foreign language (EFL) learners to acquire the four key English skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking. The Japanese Course of Study for Junior High Schools was revised in 2017. This revision increased the number of vocabularies that Japanese junior high school students should learn in their English classes. The purposes of this study are to verify whether the revision of the Course of Study for Junior High Schools affects the receptive vocabulary size of the freshmen at National Institute of Technology, Kisarazu College or not, and to estimate their receptive vocabulary size. The results show that the revision of the Course of Study for Junior High Schools affected the Japanese EFL college freshmen to increase their receptive vocabulary size, and that their receptive vocabulary size could be estimated at 2333-2393 words out of 4000 words.

    This study investigates the effectiveness of active learning methodologies implemented in humanities education at a Japanese technical college, specifically within the “Modern Society A” course. Through the systematic introduction of structured worksheets, facilitated group discussions, and individualized feedback mechanisms, the study demonstrated significant improvement in student engagement levels, critical thinking capabilities, and interpersonal communication competencies. The findings emphasize the crucial role of autonomous learning development and suggest the strategic integration of AI-based tools to enhance critical thinking processes. While the results indicate positive outcomes, challenges persist in establishing comprehensive assessment frameworks, highlighting the necessity for collaborative approaches to curriculum development and evaluation methodologies.

    In this paper, we report on the teaching practice of “Japanese III” in the former curriculum, in light of the process leading up to the new curriculum that has been in operation at the school since the 2024 school year. Under the old curriculum, “Japanese III” was a half-year course offered in the first semester of the third year, and a variety of innovations were required to enrich the educational content and achieve the learning objectives within the limited class time. In this paper, we specifically describe how we devised and practiced effective teaching methods centering on literary works under such constraints. It also aims to discuss improvements after the introduction of the new curriculum, and to discuss the future prospects for Japanese language education at technical colleges.

    The author has conducted “Teaching Mathematics in English” in a course of Advanced Applied Mathematics (optional credit) at the Advanced Engineering Program, remedial lectures in English (for students under 3rd year) and an open lecture on 3D geometry (for students under junior high school). Since they are not compulsory course, students agree with the methodology: teaching in English. They, however, need facilitating English because the students are not familiar with using English.

    A survey was conducted on how control systems are represented in leading control engineering textbooks in Japan. It reflects the worldview shared by the control engineering academic community and influences the behavior of engineers. Unlike four years ago, when as many books as possible were surveyed, this survey looked at as many up-to-date syllabuses as possible for courses in which students first learn control engineering at the undergraduate level at all national universities in Japan, and extracted ten books that were mentioned in textbooks at at least three universities. For nine of these books, control systems were represented as in the regular world view. In other words, in those textbooks, there was no representation that directed the reader's awareness towards the outside of their representation of control system, which consists of a control target and a controller.

    Various styles of mutual interactions between the Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah and the National Institute of Technology, Kisarazu College have been carried out for a long time. This paper reports on the short-term training program in Malaysia, 2023, which is deserved to be discussed in term of the post-COVID 19 international exchange. We also mention that true mutual interactions could be established with the respect for each school.
