Part 4. Alkali Phosphatase in Blood and Silkglands of Silkworm

Abstract

1. The activities of alkali phosphatase in blood and middle and posterior silkglands during the 5th larval stage were measdred.
2. Alkali phosphatase in blood showed maximal activity at the 4th day of the 5th instar.
3. The activities of alkali phosphatase in middle and posterior silkglands were found to have a peak at the 4th to 5th day of the 5th instar.
4. From these results it appeared that alkali phosphatase was concerned in the protein formation in the silkgland.
