Part 3. Syntheses of 2-Oxo-3-methyl-4-cyclohexylbutane, 2-Oxo-4-methyl-4-(4-isopropylcyclohexyl) butane and 2-Methyl-5-isopropyl-α-methylhydrocinnamaldehyde

Abstract

In the present study, the author prepared 2-oxo-3-methyl-4-cyclohexyibutane (III), 2-oxo-3-methyl-4-(4-isopropylcyclohexyl)-butane(III') and 2-methyl-5-isopropyl-α-methylhydrocinnamaldehyde (IX) by the synthetic methods shown in Fig. 1 and 3.
Among the three cgmpounds, only the ketone (III') had a characteristic odor of vetiver-type.
