Abstract

The removal of bacteria on the surface of silica gel treated by silanization was investigated. All silica gels which were treated by pyridine•silanization, lutidine•silanization and pyridine treatment after lutidine•silanization showed considerable removal of B. subtilis and E. coli. Bacterial removal was relatively effective at 140 h and 48 h for B. subtilis and E. coli, respectively. Silanized treatment can improve the surface function of silica gel by bacterial removal.
