Current Status and Issues of Animal Experiments in Nihon University School of Medicine

Abstract

In 2017, the “Guidebook of Standards for the Care and Storage of Laboratory Animals and the Reduction ofSuffering” (hereinafter, the “Guidebook of Standards”) was edited and published by the Ministry of the Environment. The “Guidebook of Standards” provides not only descriptions of animal experiments, but also explainsfeeding and storage in detail with an emphasis on experimental animal welfare.In this paper, we discuss future issues from the present state of animal experiments at Nihon University Schoolof Medicine.
