Abstract

Nutritional psychiatry is an interdisciplinary field that elucidates the influence of diet, nutrition, and t he gut environment on psychiatric function and complements standard psychiatric treatment. In this field, i t is essential to understand psychiatric symptoms not as localized brain abnormalities but as integrated outc omes of whole-body function. Reports indicating an association between nutritional status and psychiatric symptoms suggest that psychiatric function is influenced by biochemical substrates1),2). Adopting the gut–b rain axis as a core concept, this paper presents the perspective of "viewing the mind from the whole body" and proposes a practical framework that comprehensively intervenes in the gut environment by integrating gut barrier function, inflammation, microbiota, mucosal immunity, nutritional metabolism, and lifestyle.
