Homoiotransplantation of the amphibian thyroid anlage.

Abstract

1. The thyroid bud of Bufo japonicus in already determined as early as the stage of 5 mm total length.
2. The thyroid bud, if grafted in the neighbouring of the ear can differentiate into follicles, which produce colloid substance.
3. No striking differences in growth or development were noted in the host as result of the operation when compared with controls, therefore formation of the colloid material in the graft does not effect development of the body and limbs, so far the stage examined is concerned.
