Abstract
There seemed to be rare literatures that the developmental aspects of the lipid nutrition were totally discussed about the fetus and newborn in Japan. Consideration of this issue must be contained as follows; 1) lipid metabolism in pregnancy, 2) placenta function of lipid transport, 3) fetal development and lipid metabolism, 4) Affects to infants of different sources of milk. Although medical care for prematurity has made significant advances in the past 30 years, the knowledge of the lipid nutritional support of the extremely low birth weight infants has been still scare in our country. Several essential points of important issues of lipidology of the fetus and newborn have been explained in this literature including of DOHaD concepts.
