Structure and Function of Phospholipase A₁

Abstract

Phosphpipase A₁ (PLA₁) is an enzyme that cleaves fatty acids at the sn-1 position of glycerophospholipids. Although the PLA₁ activity has been widely detected in various organisms and tissues, its molecular details have been elusive. Recently several molecules that exhibit the PLA₁ activity have reported. Here we describe recent advance in the study of PLA₁.
