Abstract
Cyclosiloxane attained a crucial position due to its good miscibility with various ingredients in addition to the general benefits of silicone oil. In detergent formulae, it is expected to play a key role in cleansing a soil with polymeric siloxane, which is normally hard to remove. Self-organized structure such as a microemulsion that solubilizes oil can provide a specific function as a reflection of the property of the aggregates. In this article, a new approach to prepare the microemulsion using a versatile POE alkyl type surfactant combined with cyclosiloxane in the presence of ethanol is presented. Solubilizing property of cyclosiloxane, the effect of addition of polar oil, and a structural effect of the selforganized solution on the detergency are discussed. Recent material progress strongly requires the development of physico-chemical study of detergent such as phase optimization study.
