Abstract
In this paper, the author focuses on folkloristic studies on nature and the environment that emerged in the 1990s and later: ecological folklore by Kan’ichi Nomoto, folkloristic natural magazine by Toru Shinohara, environmental folklore by Hiroyuki Torigoe, and folkloristic study on people and the environment by Yutaka Suga. The author reviews the discussion points of the respective studies.
The author summarizes the three viewpoints of environmental folklore presented by Torigoe into two viewpoints: (i)“interaction between nature and people” and (ii) “interaction among people” via the environment, while referring to the viewpoint from which Suga conducted studies on commons.
Finally, the author builds the analysis framework for studying of fishery and shows three subjects for studying of river fishery.
