Abstract
A 61-year-old male was admitted to the hospital complaining of a globus sensation on swallowing. A neck CT scan showed dilatation of the esophageal wall in the left cervical esophagus, and a Zenker's diverticulum was suspected. Diverticulectomy was performed via the external cervical approach under general anesthesia. The globus sensation resolved after the operation with no serious surgical complications. It is suggested that a diverticulectomy may be effective for patients with Zenker's diverticulum presenting with a globus sensation on swallowing.
