Abstract
Sixty-six ears with clinical otosclerosis operated on from 1984 to 1992 were studied on the clinical feature and improvement in hearing level.
Male patients were 26 cases (32 ears) and female were 32 cases (34 ears)
Twenty-six ears revealed Carhart's notch, and 37 ears had stiffness curve.
Generally, the gain in the post operative hearing was satisfactory. But the results of small fenestra stapedectomy were not so good as compare to those of medium fenestra stapedectomy and total stapedectomy.
The 4.25 mm tefron piston wire (Schuknecht) was used on 37 ears.
No serious complication was experienced.
