Abstract
The important role played by tonsillar focal infection has been explained by the anatomical structure, histopathological findings, γ-globulin and bacteriological findings (hemolytic streptococcus). Keeping in mind the various factors of secondary infection following tonsillectomy which influence the prognosis, the healing conditions of 204 receiving tonsillectomy after accurate diagnosis have been reported. The curative rate of chronic, mild fever showed a figure of 100%, that of rheumatic disease 83.6%, and that of glomerulonephritis 80.4%. The most Satisfactory results were obtained in the acute stage of the disease, and early tonsillectomy is encouraged.
