Abstract
Bifid nose is a rare congenital anomaly. Sixteen cases have been reported in the Japanese literature (10 female, 5 male, 1 sex unknown) including 6 of our cases.
Four of recent cases are reported in this paper along with the surgical method.
Forehead flap was used in a 3 years 9 months old girl.
Repositioning of the nasal cartilage and insertion of L shaped hip bone graft was used in two sisters of 16 and 13 years old. Plastic repare using the upper and the lower nasal cartilage was applied in 21 years old female.
Surgical correction is the only treatment of choice for this anomaly. The authors recommended the surgery in the earliest possible time because of socio- psychological problems.
Among numerous surgical methods, reconstruction of the nasal pyramid by means of forehead flap appears to provide the most favorable result.
