We discovered an inner ear anomaly in Golden Hamster. By scanning electron microscope, the arrangement of individual sensory hairs in the first row of outer hair cells appeared normal, but the cells were not harmonized and were scattered about, in every direction in the whole turn, in the bilateral inner ear.
There was no change in the second and third rows of the outer hair cells, but in the inner hair cells a partial anomaly was noted in the basal-middle turn.
By ABR comparison, there was no difference between the normal and the abnormal Hamster, but it seems necessary to make further investigations using CM, AP, etc.
