The vein of the cochlear aqueduct (VCAQ) is a main draining vein of the cochlea. The effect of its occlusion on EP, endolymphatic pressure (PE) and perilymphatic pressure (PP) were measured using a servo-controlled micropressure system. Cochlear blood flow was evaluated by microsphere method.
PE showed transient increase as similarly as PP after VCAQ occlusion with intact cochlear aqueduct. Cochlear blood flow was markedly reduced after VCAQ occlusion, extremely in a case of decreased EP. But there was no difference of the distribution between control and VCAQ occluded ear on each turn and portion.
