High-power terahertz radiation using ultrafast laser and its applications

Abstract

Several practical techniques of generating terahertz radiation have already been reported in detail. Among these schemes, the use of photoconductive switches and semiconductor surfaces irradiated by an ultrafast laser is well known. In this article, these techniques are described in terms of high-power terahertz pulse generation. In addition, the integrated optics for launching and guiding terahertz radiation called a terahertz pigtail, which we have recently developed, is introduced.
