Patient safety and quality issues have become key concepts in modernized healthcare system. Most adverse events are caused by an inappropriate system, and a system approach to build a safer system for both patients and medical staff should be prioritized. The introduction of IT into healthcare is expected to decrease certain types of adverse events relating to patient identification and information transmission. The presentation will address the background and basic concepts of patient safety and quality issues with topics relating to the introduction of IT into healthcare.
