Abstract

The gender gap in the STEM fields is a global phenomenon and a social problem that should not be overlooked. One of the factors is the existence of sexism in the educational setting of the STEM fields. In particular, the impact of Ambivalent Sexism has become clearer through a few insightful studies within the U.S. context. This article aims to introduce those key researches and discuss possible implications and suggestions for the educational setting in Japan.
