To prepare for an anticipated disaster related to heavy rainfall or a typhoon, the population is expected to understand relevant information, make flexible and timely decisions based on it, and convert them into appropriate actions for evacuation, which involves a high degree of thought, analysis, and judgment. In this study, these abilities are referred to as disaster coping skills, and the self-evaluation of such skills and its components were analyzed in the data obtained from a questionnaire survey conducted on the inhabitants of areas affected by the heavy rain disaster that took place in July 2018.
