Abstract

Recently, the movement to use satellite images for social science analysis has been accelerating. In this paper, we introduce some examples of studies that utilize satellite images in quantitative analyses in economic and social contexts. We focus on several topics such as the social and economic impact of COVID-19 and the relationship between land use and well-being. We further discuss the potential of utilizing satellite images in social sciences.
