As autonomous driving systems evolve, ensuring both functional safety and cybersecurity becomes increasingly critical. ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ISO/SAE 21434 (Cybersecurity) share significant similarities, such as their risk-based approaches and V-model development processes. By integrating these standards, the interdependencies between functional safety and cybersecurity risks can be consistently managed, enhancing the system's overall reliability and safety. This paper considers the importance of adopting a unified approach that leverages these process similarities to address the growing complexity and risks in autonomous driving systems.
