This study compared two practical information support methods and a non-support control group to enhance passenger cooperation and expedite setting up an evacuation ladder during a train emergency. Passengers were asked via intercom to assist with ladder installation. The support methods included pre-operational video learning support (PVLS), where passengers watched a video demonstrating the setup before the task, and operational voice support (OVS), where passengers received step-by-step voice instructions. A comparative analysis revealed that (a) passengers in the support group set up the evacuation ladder faster than in the non-support group, and (b) the PVLS method was more effective in reducing setup time than the OVS method. Participants also rated the PVLS method as subjectively easier than the OVS method. We also assessed participants' psychological resistance to setting up an evacuation ladder during an emergency. The results showed that participants who watched the PVLS video experienced less psychological resistance than those who did not. These findings suggest that pre-operational video learning positively influences both task performance and the willingness of passengers to cooperate in emergencies.
