Analysis of Eyeground Images for Diagnosis of Excavatio Papillae Nervi Optici Focused on Threshold Level between Optic Nerve Nipple Part and its Depression Part

Abstract

Color eyeground images, which were composed of B, G and R ones, were separately analyzed, and the diagnosis of the excavatio papillae nervi optici was attempted. The contrast between inside of the optic nerve nipple part and outside of it on an B-images was clearer than G- and R-images. Histogram analysis of the i mages derived the method of binarizing inside of papilla part. Then a computer system using the method may be able to diagnose excavatio papillae nervi optici based on the eyeground images.
