Abstract

Almost all natural bioactive compounds and artificial products have complicated cycles in their structures. For the purpose of synthesizing the complicated cycles, several precious metals are often used. On the other hand, the precious metals, what we call rare metals, are mostly high price and hard to obtain. This paper reports the ability to produce cyclized products from two functional unsaturated bonds, or one functional unsaturated and epoxide by using iron reagent without using rare metals. Upon reaction with the same reagent, we tried to synthesize the known intermediate structure of (-)-Kinetic acid usually used as a tool in neuropharmacology.
