Spatiotemporal statistical shape model of neonatal brain in MR images

Abstract

Neonatal brain will be deformed significantly with not only growing but also cerebral diseases. Because it is hard to distinguish the differences between the growing related deformation and the disease related deformation, neonatal brain shape has not been used for brain disease diagnosis. We extend statistical shape model (SSM), which models the individual variety statistically, to temporal domain. The new model is called spatialtemporal SSM (stSSM). This paper introduces a construction procedure of stSSM using neonatal brain MR images.
