Abstract

The biological studies have been very common in psychiatry in recent years. For example, NIRS has been used for diagnosis of bipolar disorder with a medical service under health insurance. However, there are many problems in this method. First, there would be no way to know what the phenomenon in biological level means in psychological, psychopathological level. Furthermore, there is an profound problem. That is to say, is it possible that the phenomenon in biological level can be reduced to psychological, psychopathological level? In this paper, we will discuss about the problem and the limitation of this method and the prospect for other approach.
