The problem of low birthrate and aging population continues to advance, and the labor force is seriously short at the construction site. Therefore, if it is possible to introduce a material transport robot, it is expected that the worker's burden can be reduced. In this research, we aim to develop construction robots for materials transportation. In this report, we propose a route plan method for obstacles avoidance by using a range sensor. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

If the power drive unit of the mobile robot is made more compact, the use of the mobile robot is further increased. In a previous study, we proposed a compact omni-directional wheel by incorporating a flat motor and a thin speed reducer in a nested type omni-directional wheel.

In this report, we design the strength of the proposed nested type omni-directional wheel and evaluate the performance of the prototype of the two stage type cycloid drive.

It should be interesting to analyze the sequence of nodes in Fuzzy Graph. Nishida et al. proposed One-Sided Connectivity Method. This method considers the sequencing problem based on the α- cut. In general, this ordering structure may be a partially ordered set. We proposed a new method ‘Fuzzy Core Index Method’ based on the fuzzy core value. The advantage of the proposed method is that the sequence of nodes can be analyzed even if the relationship of the analysis object does not satisfy the transition law. In this paper, we would introduce the effectiveness of the proposed method through some simulations and introduce the indicators ‘Maximum Eigenvalue’ that can measure the transitivity of the graph.

The main cause of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is primarily the formation of thrombi due to the destruction of intravascular plaque in the coronary arteries. The plaque is the accumulation of lipids in the inner membrane of blood vessels. The tissue structure determines fragility of plaque. Therefore, for accurate diagnosis of ACS, the characterization of the tissue of the coronary plaque is very important. In this research, we reclassify the tissue at the target point by using class imbalance of tissues and actual distance between tissues using the neighborhood classification results by SVM. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been verified by comparing the classification results of the proposed method with those of the conventional methods, applying to the real data obtained from the human coronary arteries.

This paper proposes a new method of describing a human motion based on Motion History Image (MHI) representation. MHI representation is a well-known way of describing a motion by a single image, but it cannot deal with a self-occlusive motion in a proper way. This paper focuses on the motion in depth direction and proposes Reverse Descriptive MHI (RD-MHI). The RD-MHI and the original MHI are both employed for motion recognition, since the former well describes the motion toward an observing camera, whereas the latter away from the camera. Experimental results support the combination in human motion recognition.

We proposed a method to calculate recoil of successive particle emissions, which has been neglected in the past studies. This method is adaptable to arbitrary successive particle emissions and is a highly generic method. Furthermore, the energy and momentum of all emitted particles can be determined, and the excitation energy of the remaining nuclei can also be calculated. Therefore, it solves the problem what state is the residual nucleus at the end of this model, which leads to easy introduction of an evaporation model.

As described above, we conclude that the calculation of recoil should be done basically based on conservation laws which exist physically and strictly at any time.

We investigate daily share prices of the Nikkei 225 stock index to identify jump times of the stock index using a jump-diffusion model which consists of the Black-Scholes model with a stochastic volatility and a compound Poisson process. Since the data of daily share prices of the Nikkei 225 stock index are observed at discrete times, it is difficult to find real jump-times from the data. In this paper we consider how to separate jump-times from the observed data. The volatility of the stock index is estimated by the historical volatility from the observation of some daily share prices. We also refer to the number of daily share prices for the historical volatility and show that the number is essential for the accuracy of the identification of jump times.

We investigated the relations among age, gender, smoking information, and lifestyle-related disease hypertension :HT, type 2 diabetes ;DM, hyperlipidemia : HL, body mass index: BMIin cases with colon cancer(disease cord:060035&060040), using Diagnosis Procedure Combination survey dataDPC data. The risk factors to affect colon cancer was investigated using a method of decision tree. As a result, HL was extracted as the most significant factor relating to colon cancer. The rate of colon cancer patients without HLwas 2 times higher than the rate of with HL . The second factors was HT. The rate of colon cancer patients with HT was 3 times higher than the rate of without HT. After HL was excluded from an independent variable, the decision was finished. Moreover, colon cancer was divided into 060035 and 060040, then analyzed them under the same conditions. As a result, 060035 was the most strongly related to gender. Furthermore, both men and women were relevant to age. After gender was removed from the items of independent variable, 060035 had relevance to BI and then related to BMI. On the other hand, 060040 was only related to HL. HL was the most strongly related to colon cancer and 060040. However, the related items of 060035 were completely different. For this reason, e consider that it is necessary to analyze colon cancer for each site.

In recent years, the number of patients with chronic kidney disease in Japan has reached 13.3 million (1 in 8 of adults over 20 years old). The disease is said to be a new country illness. The important factors of the chronic kidney disease have been clarified by long-term clinical studies. In this paper, we propose a new methodology to discover important factors inherent to the chronic kidney disease patients consisted by Topological data analysis (TDA) and Layer-wise Relevance Propagation (LRP). To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we compared the result obtained by our proposed method with the known important factors by the clinical studies.

Medical treatment cannot avoid the risk like side effects. In general, appropriate dosages and dosing intervals will vary among patients. The most important consideration in administration design is blood drug concentration of the patient, and it is necessary to estimate the concentration beforehand for the administration plan. However, since it is difficult to estimate personal blood drug concentration of patient, it is extremely difficult to precisely decide administration design. Additionally, observed data in pharmacy is value and few. In this study, we construct a Generative Adversarial Network model to generate similar data accurately. The proposed method can help training of Neural Network with small data and compared to models constructed in conventional studies and examined with methods. They are a statistical model and Neural Network model proposed in previous studies. As results, our model outperformed those methods.

Abstract: Spreading of information terminals such as smartphone, tablet-pc and so on, the number of unauthorized accesses has also increased. Under these circumstances, it is necessary to prevent illegal access to servers handling important information. However, the password authentication is generally used as a way to prevent intrusion by unauthorized people, but in case the password is stolen, it can’t prevent spoofing by a third party. Therefore, on the premise of the operation scenes of servers managing important information, we conducted verification tests of continuous personal authentication with keystroke information for the purpose of developing a system for preventing spoofing of users by third parties. In this paper, we verify whether intrusion can be detected and report the result.

As the super-aging society progresses, there is concern that the number of patients with musculoskeletal pain increases rapidly. Today, fascia has been drawing attention as an important cause of musculoskeletal pain. We evaluated functional anatomical effects on abnormal fascia by using skin stimulation tool (Somaceptmyo, Toyo Resin Co.Ltd, Shizuoka, Japan) for musculoskeletal pain and limited active and passive range of motion (ROM) caused by abnormal fascia. The participants were 23 (8 males, 15 females) from teens to seventeens who agreed with our study according to the Declaration of Helsinki, who visited an osteopathic clinic. Somaceptmyo was applied to the participants after the functional anatomical evaluation for fascia. As results, visual analogue scale (VAS), Present Pain Intensity (PPI) and questionnaires in Short–Form of McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ) were improved (p <0.05). No side effect was confirmed. Somaceptmyo as a skin stimulation tool could be safe to use for musculoskeletal pain and might influence the type of pain caused by abnormal fascia.

A fuzzy autoregressive (AR) model proposed by Yabuuchi are an interval-type AR model. His fuzzy AR model uses fuzzy time-series data. As computations based on fuzzy numbers increase vagueness, an intervaltype AR model may produce unnatural predicted values. This paper solved this problem using a numerical example by two approaches. The first is to change the target of fuzzification from time-series data to autocovariances. The second is to build the interval-type autoregressive model sequentially. As the two approaches solved the problem, this paper considers the results used two approaches.

This paper focuses on an interval-type fuzzy regression model that illustrates the possibility of an analyzed system by including data. In an interval-type fuzzy regression model, it is important that regression outputs illustrate how much the possibilities of an analyzed system. There are some functions to evaluate an interval-type fuzzy regression. However, this paper proposes an evaluation function that can be easily interpreted. It was confirmed that the proposed evaluation function is useful in numerical examples. Then, the results of this consideration are reported in this paper.

On the other hand, the multivariate discriminant analysis method is based on a normal distribution of data, In the case of the classification, where data is not normally distributed, LVQ could have a better accuracy. Parameter setting such as the number of codebook vectors is arbitrary for LVQ. It is an advantage but could be a disadvantage oppositely. In this study, we report the basic properties of LVQ by using model data.

In spite of progress in the research of this field, it has not been able to treat the consciousness successfully. In science, we usually have the assumption that the objects exist independently from our consciousness. However, the consciousness has itself as the object. This situation leads us to some difficulty. Therefore, it is very puzzling to research this field scientifically. In this report, we discuss the possibility of applying the quantum theory to the science of the consciousness compared with general relativity. But our consideration about this issue is only the beginning. We should develop the research of this field.

The computer vision involves many modeling problems for preventing noise caused by sensing units such as cameras. In order to improve computer vision system performance, a robust modeling technique must be developed for essential models in the system. The RANSAC and least median of squares (LMedS) algorithm have been widely applied in such issues. However, the performance deteriorates as the noise ratio increases and the modeling time for algorithms tends to increase in industrial applications. As a promising technique, we proposed a new fuzzy LMedS method based on reinforcement learning concept for robust modeling. In this study, we investigated selecting strategies as an indispensable concept of reinforcement learning through camera homography experiments. Their results found the proposed ε-roulette strategy to be promising in improving calculation time, model optimality, and robustness in modeling performance.

We collected the data of cherry trees and old trees of cherry blossoms in parks, schools, riverbanks, etc. in various places, and investigated distribution status and characteristics by using the spherical SOM.

Unlike classical statistical treatment, Tokutaka et al. proposed a significance by SOM based on a new concept that "significance is a magnitude relation between two data class elements". There are several applications of the proposed method by Tokutaka et al., However, since the proposed method is a new concept, it is not yet enough to elucidate basic characteristics. Therefore, We propose a new statistical performance evaluation applying multiple regression analysis to significance by SOM and confirm its effectiveness with benchmark data. Moreover, it is applied to the significance in the fundus image analysis and the validity of the statistical performance evaluation is confirmed from the fundus image data.

This paper describes the relation between relative position of peripheral intravenous catheter in vein and thrombus generation around it. In this study, it is assumed that the contact of catheter on the vein wall causes thrombus formation due to change of flow filed. First of all, the thrombus formation in the vein model, which is made of silicone tube, were observed by CCD camera. It was found that there are some cases of catheter’s contacts to the tube wall when the thrombus occurs. To investigate the flow field of the flow, CFD analysis around the catheter in the infantile vein was done. The results show that there are low shear rate regions, low velocity regions, and long retention time region near the area of catheter’s contact. It was concluded that the relative position of catheter in the vein may cause the thrombus formation due to infant’s motion during drip.

On March 14, 2015, the Hokuriku Shinkansen line started its operation between Nagano and Kanazawa Station. It came to connect Tokyo to Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture in about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Moreover, it was renamed the “Hokuriku Shinkansen” at this time. The approach from the metropolitan area to “Toyama prefecture,” whose charm is nature including Tateyama and Kurobe, and “Ishikawa prefecture,” whose capital Kanazawa is popular for its history and tradition of Kaga-hyakumangoku was greatly improved. In this study, what evaluations the Hokuriku Shinkansen has received by its users for these three years were investigated using online reviews.

According to the White Paper on Tourism for 2017, approximately 24 million foreigners come to Japan for sightseeing in 2016. It can be said that it is just the time of sightseeing right now. Therefore, the necessity for using English, which can be said to be a world common language, has been increased. As a measurement of English communication skills needed on the site, the “Certification for Bilingual Medical Staff” started in 2011. In this study, English sentences in a workbook that follows the “Certification for Bilingual Medical Staff” were investigated to educe the metrical linguistic characteristics. In short, frequency characteristics of character- and word-appearance were examined.

We propose a method for asking the multi-layered representation of the domain of taste. Amongst a lot of aspects or domains of the representations for taste, we pick up the domain of shape and the domain of adjectives. The experiment consists of two parts; the shape choosing part and the adjective choosing part. Multiple-choice or no-choice is allowed in both parts. Studies of taste and shape sensory correspondence (crossmodal correspondences) have proposed experimental methods based on selective expression experimental methods and experimental methods based on generating expressions that make drawing sketches of taste impressions.

The use of cloud computing system, which is the basic technology supporting ICT, is expanding. However, when each sever is connected with much terminals, the server shows low capability compared to being connected with small number of terminals. The limit of capacity of servers for cloud system leads to significant processing time delay. To avoid it, edge computing system for IoT has been proposed. In the edge system, a plural of servers called edges are connected directly or close distance between the server and the terminal (or thing). In the previous paper, we proposed the effective BP learning method for the edge system. In this paper, we propose edge computing systems k-means and Neural Gas method and show the effectiveness of them in some simulations.

In recent years, education quality assurance has been desired in higher education in Japan, and necessity to clarify "learning outcomes" which undergraduate students should learn has been also pointed out. In addition, according to the report of the Central Council for Education of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan, they recommended to utilize assessment tests, experiential education surveys, rubrics and so on. As to the faculty evaluation, they indicated necessity to consider research and development of evaluation methods, and also discuss ways of dissemination and sharing of expert knowledge on evaluation. In this paper, we shall show some rubrics in calculus classes at university.
