Abstract
Porous ceramics of hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2:HA) with bimodal pore size of over 100 μm and under 1 μm were prepared from mixture of α-tricalcium phosphate (α-Ca3)(PO4)2:α-TCP) and glycine. The mixed powders were formed into cylindrical shape, and then they were treated hydrothermally at the temperatures from 30° to 200°C, for 5 to 20h, under the saturated vapor pressure. The porous HA ceramics were composed of rod-shaped particles and they had the porosity from 70% to 90%.
