Structural Stability and Catalytic Activity of Anatase Type TiO₂

Abstract

An anatase type TiO₂ was known to change into a rutile phase at 800°C. We tried to synthesize TiO₂ single crystals with anatase structure by a vapor transport method in order to get a further knowledge of mechanism of anatase-rutile transformation. We successfully obtained single crystals with anatase phase when high temperature region was 850°C. They showd various colors depend on the additional elements and oxygen defects.
