Abstract
A large negative Seebeck coefficient of FexCo1-xB was expected from calculated densities of states of metal borides. X-ray diffraction patterns of FexCo1-xB (x≤0.5) showed that it was a solid solution. But, experimental results indicated that Seebeck coefficient of FexCo1-xB was negative only at x=0 (i.e. CoB) or 0.01. X-ray diffraction patterns of Ni2B were observed in NixCo1-xB(x≥0.02) as well as those of CoB. Seebeck coefficients of NixCo1-xB were negative at x=0.02∼0.07 in the whole range of 430 K to 960 K.
