Abstract

The heterogeneous structure in Si₃N₄ sintered bodies(SN-1) was examined by non-destructive method, ultrasonic testing(UT) and X-ray radiography test(RT). The number of test piece was 100 and the large defects more the 50μm were detected in 71 pieces. Total number of the large defects detected was 262. The size of defects distributed mostly in range of 50-150μm in their statistical analysis, and the largest defect was 668μm.
