Abstract
BaO-TiO2-ZrO2 system compounds were prepared by a floating zone method. Two phase mixtures of BaTiO3 and BaZrO3 were obtained in the full range of BaTiO3-BaZrO3 system. The maximum permittivity decreased with increasing BaZrO3 content. BaTi2O5 was prepared in a single crystal. The permittivity perpendicular to (002) plane was about 70. In a TiO2 rich region, BaTi2O5-Ba6Ti17O40 eutectic composites were prepared. The eutectic composites consisted of BaTi2O5 matrix and rod-shaped Ba6Ti17O40. The (020) plane of BaTi2O5 matrix was perpendicular to the growth direction.
