Abstract
AION ceramics were prepared by using the powder mixture of AIN and Al2O3 powder. AION single phase was obtained in the range of 20 to 35mol% AIN at 1900°C. However, these sintered bodies prepared by pressureless sintering were revealed no translucence. Translucent AION ceramics were prepared by combined sintering of pressureless sintering and HIP sintering. The translucent AION ceramics were synthesized by HIP sintering at 1800∼1900°C for 120 minutes under 180MPa after pressureless sintering at 1900°C.
