Abstract
ZrW2O8 is a metastable and low thermal-expansion material. The single-phase ZrW2O8 is prepared by quenching into water or liquid N2. In the case of quenching in air, ZrW2O8 partially decomposes. However, ZrW2O8 with additives such as SiO2, Cr2O3, La2O3, and Nb2O5 did not decompose into ZrO2 and WO3.
