Abstract
Hydrothermal oxidation of metal process has advantages to avoid unpleasant influence of anions caused by raw materials and/or to enable controlling size and morphology of particles. In this study, hydrothermal oxidation of Bi metal in KOH and NaOH solutions at 150∼250°C was investigated. The bismuth titanates such as Bi12TiO20 and A0.5Bi0.5TiO3 (A=Na, K) were obtained successfully by hydrothermal oxidation of a mixture of Bi and Ti metal powders.
