A new oxynitride (Ca1-xLax)Ti(O,N)3 with x<0.1 has been synthesized by the reaction of (Ca1-xLax)TiO3+δ precursor with flowing ammonia at 1000°C. The result of TG-MS showed discharge of nitrogen at 600°C. Moreover, TG curves showed two weight gain. It was considered that the first weight gain at 400°C corresponded to oxygen insertion into oxygen defects and the second at 600°C corresponded to the substitution of nitrogen and oxygen. A TG curve of the sample heated at 500°C in air had one peak of weight gain at 600°C. It was found that the oxygen defect of (Ca,La)Ti(O,N)3 was inserted by oxygen without the substitution of nitrogen and oxygen by heat-treatment at 500°C in air. Rietveld structural analysis by neutron diffraction data confirmed that crystal structure of the (Ca,La)Ti(O,N)3 was orthorhombic space group Pnma (Rwp=4.72%, S=1.37).
