Abstract
BaTiO3 is well known for its excellent properties and has been applied in various areas. Taking into account of the environmental issue, the processing of ceramic green sheets in the aqueous system is a keen demand. However, it is commonly difficult to disperse BaTiO3 fine particles in aqueous solution without dissolution of Ba ion. In this study, in order to establish the aqueous processing of BaTiO3 ceramic sheets, the effect of the addition of polyelectrolyte dispersants on dispersibility of BaTiO3 slurries was investigated in aqueous system. The high dispersibility of slurries could be attained by optimum control of dispersant under the controlled condition without leaching Ba (pH 9), and the wettability of aqueous BaTiO3 slurries to a carrier-film was found to be improved by controlling the amount of binder. Drying temperature and humidity controls are also keys to depress the cambers of ceramic sheets.
