Abstract
AlN has received considerable attention as substrate and heat sink material in electronic devices, due to high thermal conductivity and high electrical resistivity. The purpose of this study is to attain the AlN based nanocomposites and to give a new function to AlN ceramics. The AlN/BN nanocomposites were fabricated by sintering AlN powders, on which t-BN with disordered layer structure was coated. The t-BN coating was prepared by reducing and heating AlN particles covered with a mixture boric acid and urea by the chemical process. As expected from the rules of composites, Young′s modulus of both the AlN/BN nanocomposites and the microcomposites decreased with increasing in BN content, but the strength of the nanocomposites was significantly improved, compared with the conventional microcomposites. Furthermore, the nanocomposites exhibited the excellent machinability and thermal conductivity. In the presentation, AlN/YN composite with low electrical resistivity and high thermal conductivity will be also report.
