Abstract

Aluminum anodic oxidation film is an oxide layer on aluminum substrate prepared by anodic oxidation treatment, and it has been used in many fields such as pan, kettle and electronic devices. Aluminum anodic oxidation film has a special geometrical structure, which is a hexagonal cylindrical cell structure. It is an effective way to give an antimicrobial activity to aluminum anodic oxidation film for expanding its applications. We have attempted to develop a new material by impregnated with iodine, which shows antimicrobial activity, into micro pores of an aluminum anodic oxidation film using electrochemical method. In this study, aluminum anodic oxidation film impregnated with β-cyclodextrin iodine complex or β-cyclodextrin and KI was prepared, and its antimicrobial activity was investigated.
