The deformation of ceramic matrix composites (CMC) is controlled by several processes, occurring in the matrix phase, in the enforcing phase or at the interface between them, our aim was to separate these processes. Bodies having various C/C-SiC structures differing in composition and/or way of preparation were studied. Several samples have been prepared from a body by cutting and by chemical elimination of carbon fibres and amorphous carbon phases. Bending stress - strain curves were measured for C/C-SiC samples and their SiC skeletons. It was concluded that processes dominant in stages of deformation could be identified by combining curves measured on samples prepared from the same body using different procedures.
